PLANT:

  • Lithops julii is a species of succulent plant that belongs to the genus Lithops, commonly known as "living stones."
Lithops julii, like other Lithops species, has evolved to resemble the rocks and pebbles in its natural environment. This adaptation helps the plant avoid being eaten by herbivores. It consists of a pair of leaves that are fused at the base. The leaves are thick and fleshy, resembling a split stone.
Lithops produces daisy-like flowers that emerge from the cleft between the leaves. The flowers can be various colors, including white, yellow, or pink, and they usually appear in late summer or early autumn.
  • Water Needs: Low; allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Water sparingly, especially during the dormant summer months.
  • Light Requirement: Prefers bright, indirect sunlight or partial shade. Protect from intense, direct sunlight.
  • Maintenance: Low; minimal pruning required, mainly to remove dead or withered leaves.
  • Common Names: Living Stones, Split Rocks.
  • Family: Aizoaceae.
  • Origin: Native to southern Africa.
  • Cold Tolerance: Not frost-resistant; protect from freezing temperatures.
  • Heat Tolerance: Tolerates heat well and can thrive in warm to hot conditions.
