PLANT CARE:
- Aloe humilis, commonly known as the Spider Aloe, is a small, attractive succulent known for its rosette of triangular, fleshy leaves with distinctive white spots and spines.
During the flowering season, Aloe humilis produces a tall, slender flower spike that emerges from the center of the rosette. The tubular, coral-colored flowers appear in clusters along the spike, attracting pollinators like hummingbirds.
- Water Needs: Low to moderate; allow the soil to dry between waterings. Water sparingly, especially in winter.
- Light Requirement: Prefers bright, indirect sunlight or partial shade. Can tolerate some direct sunlight but may need protection from intense midday sun.
- Maintenance: Low; remove dead or withered leaves as needed. Re-pot if it outgrows its container.
- Common Names: Spider Aloe, Partridge Breast Aloe.
- Family: Asphodelaceae (formerly in the Liliaceae family).
- Origin: Native to South Africa.
- Cold Tolerance: Not frost-resistant; protect from freezing temperatures.
- Heat Tolerance: Tolerates heat well and can thrive in hot climates.
