PLANT:

  • Adenium Arabicum, commonly known as the Desert Rose, is a fascinating and resilient succulent that hails from arid regions of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. Adenium Arabicum has the ability to store water in its thick, swollen stem and branches, allowing it to survive in extremely dry and harsh environments.
In addition to its striking appearance and impressive water storage capabilities, this succulent is known for its use in traditional medicine. Various parts of the Adenium Arabicum plant, such as the sap and root, have been used in traditional African and Asian medicine for treating conditions like skin diseases, inflammation, and even as a potential remedy for certain parasites.
It's important to note that while Adenium Arabicum has traditional medicinal uses, caution should be exercised, as some parts of the plant can be toxic if ingested. As with any medicinal plant, it's crucial to consult reliable sources and experts before attempting to use it for therapeutic purposes.
  • Water Needs: Low; allow the soil to dry out almost completely between waterings. Water sparingly to prevent overwatering.
  • Light Requirement: Prefers bright, direct sunlight. Provide ample sunlight, especially in the morning and early afternoon.
  • Maintenance: Low; minimal pruning required, mainly to shape the plant or remove dead or withered growth.
  • Common Names: Desert Rose, Sabi Star, Impala Lily, Kudu, Adenium.
  • Family: Apocynaceae.
  • Origin: Native to the Arabian Peninsula, East Africa, and the Middle East.
  • Cold Tolerance: Not frost-resistant; protect from freezing temperatures.
  • Heat Tolerance: Tolerates heat well and thrives in hot, arid conditions.

Important note: Adenium Arabicum may enter a period of dormancy during the winter months. During this time, its growth slows down or halts, and it might lose some or all of its leaves. This is a natural response to the reduced sunlight and lower temperatures.
