PLANT
Tephrocactus articulatus is an unusual cactus from Argentina, formed by segmented, joint-like growth that builds a sculptural silhouette over time.
Its bluish-green segments are dotted with pronounced areoles that produce long, rigid spines, giving the plant a raw, architectural presence with a sense of motion and tension.
The articulated structure allows it to grow in compact clusters while staying visually dynamic, like a desert organism assembling itself piece by piece.
Slow-growing and resilient, it feels like a living object defined by rhythm, repetition, and endurance.
Water Needs: Low.
Water sparingly during the growing season, only when the substrate is completely dry. Keep almost fully dry in winter.
Light Requirement: Bright light to direct sun.
Strong light supports compact growth and keeps the segments firm. Introduce direct sun gradually if moving from shade.
Maintenance: Low.
Requires a very well-draining mineral substrate and careful watering. Avoid humidity and prolonged moisture.
Common Names: Pine Cone Cactus, Jointed Cactus
Family: Cactaceae
Origin: Argentina
Cold Tolerance: Moderate.
Protect from temperatures below 5°C, especially if the substrate is not fully dry.
Heat Tolerance: Excellent.
Thrives in high temperatures with strong light and proper airflow.
CERAMIC
Planted in a handcrafted Neraw ceramic vessel with a faceted, rock-like form and a deep, smoky surface that reads like cooled volcanic material. Subtle mineral greens and layered marks move across the body, while the warm base ring anchors the piece with an earthy contrast. The geometry of the vessel echoes the cactus’ segmented structure, creating a compact composition where sharp spines and raw clay meet as one sculptural object.
