PLANT:
- Sedum spurium 'Fuldaglut' is admired for its low-growing, spreading habit and vibrant foliage. The leaves are typically succulent and fleshy, with a deep red or burgundy coloration, especially in full sun.
The foliage of Sedum Stonecrop is the highlight of this plant, with leaves that transition from deep green in spring to shades of burgundy, red, and bronze in summer and fall. This color change intensifies in full sun and cooler temperatures, adding visual interest to garden beds and rockeries. - Water Needs: Low to moderate; allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Water sparingly, especially during the dormant winter months.
- Light Requirement: Prefers full sun to partial shade. Thrives in bright, direct sunlight, which intensifies its foliage coloration.
- Maintenance: Low; minimal pruning required. Pinch back stems to promote bushier growth and remove any dead or withered leaves.
- Common Names: Sedum spurium 'Fuldaglut,' Fuldaglut Stonecrop, Red Carpet Stonecrop.
- Family: Crassulaceae.
- Origin: Cultivated variety; the parent species, Sedum spurium, is native to Europe and Asia.
- Cold Tolerance: Moderately frost-tolerant; protect from extended freezing temperatures.
- Heat Tolerance: Tolerates heat well and thrives in warm to hot conditions.
