PLANT:

  • Euphorbia heterodoxa is a fascinating and uncommon succulent species native to Brazil, admired for its upright, ribbed stems and striking mottled coloration that ranges from green to deep reddish-brown under strong light. The plant often develops multiple branching stems from its base, giving it a sculptural, candelabra-like form. Small yellow-green cyathia (flowers) appear near the stem tips during the growing season. Its unusual texture and coloration make it a prized addition to any Euphorbia collection.
  • Water Needs:
Low; water sparingly during active growth, allowing soil to dry completely between waterings. Keep nearly dry in winter.
  • Light Requirement:
Full sun to bright indirect light. Strong light enhances the plant’s deep pigmentation and compact shape.
  • Maintenance:
Low; plant in well-draining soil. Avoid overwatering and protect from cold drafts. Handle carefully, as the latex sap can irritate skin and eyes.
