PLANT:

  • Astrophytum myriostigma, commonly known as the Bishop's Cap, is a striking, spineless cactus native to Mexico. This star-shaped succulent features three to seven ribs, depending on maturity, and is covered in tiny white dots that help reflect sunlight and retain moisture. The plant grows in a compact, symmetrical form, making it highly sought after by collectors. In spring and summer, it produces yellow, daisy-like flowers, adding to its allure. Easy to care for, this cactus is ideal for both indoor and outdoor settings, thriving in containers or rock gardens.
  • Water Needs:
Low; water sparingly during the growing season, allowing soil to dry out completely between waterings. Reduce watering significantly in winter.
  • Light Requirement:
Bright, indirect sunlight to partial shade. Protect from intense, direct sunlight to avoid scorching.
  • Maintenance:
Low; requires well-draining, sandy soil. Fertilize sparingly during the active growth period.

    Bishop’s Cap, Star Cactus.
  • Family:
    Cactaceae.
  • Origin:
Native to central and northern Mexico.
