The Neraw Ceramic Workshop is a three-hour, hands-on session designed for anyone who wants to explore clay through a focused, theme-based experience.

This workshop is dedicated to organic tree-bark textures, inspired by the surfaces of wood, roots, and natural patterns of the earth.

In one session, you will learn the technique and hand-build your own ceramic piece.
We take care of the drying, bisque firing, glazing and final firing, and your piece will be ready for pickup in approximately 20 days.

What's Included

Techniques

In this edition of Neraw Ceramic Workshops we focus on our signature tree-bark texture technique.

You will learn how to:

  • hand-build simple forms (low planter, bowl, shallow vessel)
  • carve and layer organic patterns that resemble bark and roots
  • shape and refine the rim and body so the piece is stable and sculptural
  • prepare the surface for glazing and firing

No wheel is used, everything is done by hand.

Materials

All materials are provided by Neraw.

We work with:

  • high quality clay
  • slips and underglazes where needed
  • transparent or earthy glazes that highlight the texture

You do not need to bring anything.

Kiln

Your piece goes through the full firing process at Neraw studio:

  1. Drying time in the studio
  2. Bisque firing
  3. Glazing (applied by us)
  4. Second final firing in our kiln

Because clay needs time to dry and be fired safely, your ceramic will be ready for pickup in about 20 days from the workshop date.

Tools

All tools are available in the studio, including:

  • wooden and metal modeling tools
  • carving and trimming tools
  • ribs, sponges and brushes

You will be shown how to use each tool safely and effectively for this specific technique.

What does the cost include?

The cost includes:

  • all clay and materials
  • use of tools and studio equipment
  • 3 hours of guided teaching
  • drying, bisque firing, glazing and final firing of one piece
  • your finished ceramic, ready for pickup in about 20 days

There are no extra firing or material fees for the piece you create in the workshop.

What will I learn in these classes?

In this workshop you will learn the basics of hand-building and the specific tree texture technique.

You will:

  • build a simple vessel form from scratch
  • carve and develop bark-like textures
  • understand how thick or thin your walls should be
  • see how glazing interacts with textured surfaces

You leave with both technical knowledge and a clearer sense of how Neraw creates its organic, sculptural ceramics.

Is this a one-day workshop or a monthly class?

This is a single-session workshop (one meeting) lasting 2,5 hours.

What will I take home?

You will take home the exact piece you created during the workshop.

After the session, we dry it, fire it twice and glaze it for you.

Your finished ceramic will be ready for pickup in about 20 days.
