PLANT:

  • Pachira aquatica, commonly known as the Money Tree or Malabar Chestnut, is a tropical tree native to Central and South America. It features a thick, often braided trunk that stores water and glossy, palmate leaves that fan out elegantly. In its natural habitat, it can grow up to 18 meters tall, but when cultivated indoors, it remains compact and is prized as both a decorative and symbolic plant—believed to bring prosperity and good fortune. In ideal conditions, mature plants may produce showy cream-colored flowers followed by large, edible nuts.
  • Water Needs:
Moderate; keep the soil evenly moist but not soggy. Allow the top few centimeters of soil to dry between waterings. Reduce watering in winter.
  • Light Requirement:
Bright, indirect light. Can tolerate lower light but prefers filtered sunlight for best growth. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.
  • Maintenance:
Low to moderate; thrives in rich, well-draining soil. Wipe leaves occasionally to remove dust and promote photosynthesis. Prune to shape and encourage branching.
  • Common Names:
Money Tree, Malabar Chestnut, Guiana Chestnut
  • Family:
    Malvaceae
  • Origin:
    Central and South America
  • Cold Tolerance:
Sensitive to cold; protect from temperatures below 10°C.
  • Heat Tolerance:
High; thrives in warm, humid conditions but should be shielded from dry heat.

CERAMIC:

Planted in a unique Neraw handcrafted vessel, the pot’s textured surface and deep earthy tones evoke the rugged beauty of natural elements. The glaze transitions from rich, dark hues at the base, accentuating the organic form of the plant while providing a striking contrast against the plant’s vibrant green leaves.
