Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics, a practice that does not attempt to hide cracks, but instead highlights them as part of the object’s history.

Inspired by our experience with Kintsugi in Kyoto, we bring the practice to Neraw through a contemporary, hands-on approach.

During the workshop, each participant will work with a ceramic piece, exploring the process of breaking, joining and highlighting its fractures with gold.

What's Included

Your Kintsugi Piece

Each participant will work on their own ceramic piece, transforming it through the process of breaking, joining and repair. Your finished piece is yours to take home after the workshop.

Kintsugi Materials

All the materials needed for the repair process are included, from the bonding materials to the gold powder used to highlight the fractures.

Ceramic Piece

A ceramic piece will be provided for each participant to work with during the workshop.

Tools

All necessary tools and equipment will be available at the studio. You don’t need to bring anything with you.

Neraw Instructors

The workshop is guided by the Neraw team, from an introduction to Kintsugi and its philosophy to the hands-on repair process.

What is Kintsugi?

Kintsugi is a Japanese practice of repairing broken ceramics while intentionally highlighting the fractures rather than hiding them. The repaired lines become part of the object’s new identity and history.

What does the cost include?

The price includes the ceramic piece, all materials and tools, gold powder, and guidance throughout the workshop. You will take your finished piece home with you.

What experience level is required?

None. The workshop is suitable for complete beginners and no previous experience with ceramics or Kintsugi is required.

Do I need to bring anything?

No. Everything you need will be provided at the Neraw studio.

Can I bring my own broken ceramic piece?

For the workshop, we recommend working with the ceramic pieces provided by Neraw so that we can ensure they are suitable for the process. If you have a specific piece you would like to repair, contact us beforehand.

Can I use my finished piece for food?

No. The finished piece is intended for decorative use only and should not be used for food or drinks.
