PLANT:

  • Trichodiadema bulbosum is a charming caudiciform succulent native to South Africa, known for its bulbous, woody base and small, cylindrical leaves tipped with fine white bristles. The name “Trichodiadema” means “crown of hairs,” referring to the distinctive tuft at the end of each leaf. This species produces vibrant, daisy-like pink to magenta flowers in spring and summer, creating a striking contrast with its compact, bonsai-like form. It’s a favorite among collectors for its miniature size and elegant structure.
  • Water Needs:
Low; water moderately during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings. Keep almost dry during dormancy.
  • Light Requirement:
Full sun to bright indirect light. Strong light helps maintain compact growth and abundant flowering.
  • Maintenance:
Low; plant in well-draining, sandy soil. Avoid excess humidity and overwatering, as the caudex is sensitive to rot.
  • Common Names:
    No widely used common names
  • Family:
    Aizoaceae
  • Origin:
    South Africa
  • Cold Tolerance:
    Protect from temperatures below 5°C.
  • Heat Tolerance:
High; thrives in hot, dry climates.

CERAMIC:

Planted in a handcrafted Neraw vessel with a rounded, earthen profile and deep bronze glaze.
The surface carries tactile grooves and burnished textures, recalling aged rock and fired clay shaped by the elements. The vessel’s weight and warmth ground the airy structure of the plant, capturing a quiet sense of endurance and flow.
