PLANT:
- Echeveria setosa, commonly known as Mexican Firecracker or Firecracker Echeveria, is a species of succulent native to Mexico. It is characterized by its rosettes of densely packed, fuzzy leaves that range in color from gray-green to blue-green. The leaves are covered in fine, white hairs, giving the plant a soft and velvety texture. In the spring and summer, it produces tall stems adorned with bright orange-red flowers, adding a striking contrast to its foliage.
- Water Needs: Low; water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. Avoid overwatering, as it can lead to rotting of the roots.
- Light Requirement: Prefers bright, indirect sunlight to partial shade. Protect from intense, direct sunlight, particularly in hot climates.
- Maintenance: Low; minimal pruning required. Remove dead or withered leaves as needed to maintain plant health and aesthetics. Propagate through offsets or leaf cuttings.
- Common Names: Echeveria setosa, Mexican Firecracker, Firecracker Echeveria.
- Family: Crassulaceae.
- Origin: Native to Mexico.
- Cold Tolerance: Not frost-resistant; protect from freezing temperatures.
- Heat Tolerance: Tolerates heat well and thrives in warm to hot conditions.
